On August 24, 2004 the Board of Commisoners accepted a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant to pay for 95 percent of a master plan for DeKalb Peachtree Airport. Subsequently the BOC approved three (3) Work Authorizations with Camp, Dresser & McKee Inc. which included nine (9) tasks intended to complete the Master Plan. The tasks included:

  1. Existing conditions & issues;
  2. Aviation demand forecasts;
  3. Requirements analysis;
  4. Concept development:
  5. Environmental analysis/overview;
  6. Development/implementation phasing
  7. Economic impact analysis;
  8. Airport layout plans & report including runway safety analysis
  9. Citizen participation/public involvement plan.

On December 12, 2007 the FAA citing the Federal requirement to close grants within 4 years revoked (attached) the airport’s authority to spend Federal money on tasks 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 above. The same letter requested the completion of the remaining tasks.

Camp, Dresser & McKee completed the existing conditions and issues; economic impact analysis; runway safety area analysis; and airport layout plan report and plan set. These items are posted for public comment.
